I&#8217;ve come to understand that. All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell,&#8221; said Broun, who is an MD. &#8220;It&#8217;s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He continued:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I&#8217;ve found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don&#8217;t believe that the earth&#8217;s but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That&#8217;s what the Bible says.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cosmiclog.nbcnews.com\/_news\/2012\/10\/05\/14203607-video-shows-scientist-in-congress-saying-evolution-is-from-pit-of-hell#comments\" target=\"_hplink\">According to NBC News<\/a>, Broun&#8217;s comments were part of a larger speech given at the 2012 Sportsman&#8217;s Banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell, Georgia on September 27th. A clip of the video was distributed by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bridgeproject.com\/\" target=\"_hplink\">The Bridge Project,<\/a>\u00a0a liberal watchdog group.<\/p>\n<p>Broun is a high-ranking member of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/science.house.gov\/subcommittee-investigations-and-oversight\" target=\"_hplink\">House Science Committee,\u00a0<\/a>of which Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) is also a member.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/08\/19\/todd-akin-abortion-legitimate-rape_n_1807381.html\" target=\"_hplink\">Akin made headlines<\/a>\u00a0last month for suggesting that women don&#8217;t get pregnant from &#8220;legitimate rape&#8221; because their bodies have &#8220;ways to try to shut that whole thing down.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/10\/06\/paul-broun-evolution-big-bang_n_1944808.html?utm_hp_ref=fb&amp;src=sp&amp;comm_ref=false#sb=1158461,b=facebook\">[[[SOURCE]]]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Congressman Paul Broun (R-Ga.)\u00a0said last week\u00a0that evolution and the big bang theory are &#8220;lies straight from the pit of Hell.&#8221; &#8220;God&#8217;s word is true.
